W.E.B. – Where Everyone Belongs
What is WEB?
WEB is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel more comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. This program is built on the belief that students can help other students succeed. The program trains mentors from the 8th grade class to be WEB leaders. More and more studies show that if students have a positive experience their first year in middle school, their chances for success increase dramatically. WEB provides the structure for 6th graders to receive support and guidance from 8th graders who have been through the same challenges and understand the transition.
Four components that contribute to its success:
· Middle school orientation
· Academic follow-ups
· Social follow-ups
· Leader-initiated contact
The ultimate goal of the WEB program is to provide Caldwell Middle School with a structure in which students make real connections with each other thus increasing school safety and reducing incidences of bullying. Through the program, students learn that people at school care about them and their success. WEB is a middle school transition program that will increase student achievement, enhance character development efforts and create and anti-bullying environment at our school!
