She was nominated by her soccer coach who said "On Feb. 18, 2025 the CHS Lady Hornet Soccer team played Giddings High School at Hornet Stadium. The weather was freezing and wet. Ashley offered her stocking cap to the very cold referee. He accepted and was so moved by the random act of kindness and compassion exhibited by Miss Yanez, that he sought me out immediately at the conclusion of our game. Ashley's kind act showed a selfless attitude towards others in need. This is truly Hornets helping others!"
